3 Mobile
3mobile-bad-credit-mobile-phonesOut of all the major phone networks in the UK, 3 Mobile have always been more tolerant to people with bad credit history. Ever since they were first established in 2003, many people with poor credit history have been successful in getting approved – despite being refused elsewhere.

Although they do not guarantee approval, you stand a much better chance if you apply for a less expensive tariff and choose a lower value or free handset. We recommend that you take a look at their new Skypephone handset. The Skypephone works like a normal phone and features onboard software which also allows you to make free calls to other Skype users.

Part of the G-Finance group, Guaranteed Finance are a small and relatively unknown company compared to the likes of T Mobile and 3 Mobile. Orange
orange-bad-credit-mobile-phonesYou may be surprised to discover that Orange offer bad credit contract phones, but out of all the major UK networks, they are one of the more lenient and sympathetic when dealing with people with bad credit history.

Orange have a lower credit scoring approval rate compared to other networks such as O2 or Virgin, and although you are not 100% guaranteed for acceptance, you can vastly improve your chances of getting a contract phone if you avoid applying for top of the range handsets like the Apple iPhone or Nokia N97.

It is important that you apply directly on their website as it allows Orange time to manually review your application. If you are initially declined you may be offered a SIM only contract as an alternative plan.

Bad Credit History Mobile Phones

February 14, 2009 No comments yet

If you have a bad credit history, it can be difficult to find a provider who will allow you a mobile phone contract. All of the major networks now run a credit search before setting up a contract, and their terms are often strict. However, it is always worth asking.

T-Mobile, for example, offer a SIM-card only deal which costs around £15 per month. If you keep this account in good order for six months, they can upgrade you to a full contract with a one of the latest handsets. There are plenty of cases of people with a poor credit rating being allowed a contract mobile phone with one of the major providers; it all depends on an individual’s credit file and their particular areas of strength and weakness.

So do try, and networks such as T-Mobile and Orange have the best reputation for allowing contracts to those with poor credit. Regular searches on your credit file can actually damage your credit rating, so try these networks first and if they say no it is unlikely you will have any joy with the major providers.

If you do try these networks and still cannot obtain a contract, there are further options still. One to look at is a company called The Utility Warehouse. Utility Warehouse charge an upfront fee for the cost of your first calls, but this stipulation aside, their mobile phone contracts are available without a credit check. They don’t offer the very latest in mobile phones, but there is plenty to choose from and you should find something you like. The tariff is compatible with the major mobile phone networks. You will still need a UK bank account and a debit card to register with the Utility Warehouse and pay your bills, but they are an excellent option if a standard phone contract is not forthcoming.

If you do not have a UK bank account or debit card, the final option is asking a friend or family member with a good credit rating to obtain a contract on your behalf. You can use your bank account details to pay the direct debit, or set up an arrangement with them to meet the cost of the bill. While this is a useful option, use it carefully; should you default, it isn’t just your credit file you’re harming, and the repercussions of this on your relationship could be difficult.

If, with a poor credit rating, you do manage to obtain a mobile phone contract then it is well worth remaining with the provider. The longer the contract goes on, the better impact it will have on your credit file, as well as saving you the hassle of trying to find something new. At the end of each contract, you should be able to negotiate a new contract and a handset upgrade, and continue improving your credit as you do so.

Orange has launched a pay as you go Blackberry handset aimed at the youth market, in an interesting marketing idea.

The phone will promoted to the youth market with easy access to internet sites such as the Facebook, Myspace, Flikr and windows live messaging.

UK Business/Credit Overview: Grim, but a ray of light in the distance

January 29, 2009 No comments yet

Many have heard that US companies are having a lot of trouble with staying afloat, keeping their credit lines solid, keeping employees, etc. But many in the UK know its just as bad there right now, in fact, even worse in some ways.

UK business leaders are suffering a crisis of confidence with short term business confidence in the UK plummeting by 29% since last year, the lowest since 2003, according to the PricewaterhouseCoopers 12th Annual Global CEO Survey. That’s truly a scary figure, and will impact the ability of the average citizen to get credit with these companies. They’re being much tougher on applicants.

Nevertheless, business leaders see a flicker of light at the end of the tunnel, with more optimism about recovery and growth over the next 3-5 years.

Growth expectations have been severely impacted by the unprecedented economic and financial turmoil. As the economic downturn deepens, the mindset of the UK CEO has had to change, rebalancing short term survival with long term ambitions.

Many are now opting for lower risk strategies for growth: financing expansion from internally generated cash flow, retrenching into existing markets rather than seeking mergers and acquisitions (M&A) to grow market share and reducing spend on new product development. Despite this, UK CEOs still recognise that they must not lose sight of important drivers for long term success, such as retention of talent and planning for global issues such as climate change.

Hopefully, this will turn around and companies will experience growth and prosperity once again.

Get a mobile phone with bad credit history

December 31, 2008 No comments yet

With virtually everyone now using a mobile phone and landline phones being relegated to the background, you may be feeling like a leper if you are unable to get a mobile phone contract due to bad credit history.

Thankfully, phone networks are starting to become much more sympathetic towards people with bad credit history  and with a number of new retailers popping up on the internet, getting a mobile phone with bad credit is becoming easier all the time.

With the ongoing economic downturn and with an increasing number of people suffering from bad credit, mobile phone companies and networks are becoming far less condescending in their attitudes towards people with bad credit. Some may argue that mobile phone companies are becoming increasingly desperate to continue hitting sales targets and are now lowering their criteria for acceptance for their mobile phone contracts.

New voluntary prompt payment code in the UK won’t work

December 11, 2008 1 comment

The Government’s launch of a voluntary law on payment terms to encourage the prompt payment of bills between businesses as firms across the UK battle to survive rough economic straits is unlikely to spark a genuine move away from late payment culture in the UK, warns large credit agency Graydon UK.

The voluntary code, announced this week, aims to prevent companies from reneging on agreed payment terms. This practice is (unfortunately) quite common among large corporations in the UK, with Alliance Boots and Tesco amongst the worst offenders.

The announcement follows the recent publication of research conducted by the Forum of Private Business sadly revealing the ugly truth: that 61 per cent of small firms in the UK are encountering troubles managing cashflow compared with the first week of November.

However Graydon UK is not convinced that the proposals will turn the tide of the late payment of suppliers in the UK, particularly in instances where small firms are the victims. If it’s voluntary, they’re likely to simply ignore the new code.

There’s no doubting good intention lies behind the Government’s introduction of a voluntary code but it is highly unlikely that this latest move will make a tangible difference when it comes to helping small companies manage their cashflow. Laws across the world are rarely an impetus or an incentive as a business tool, and this one won’t be either.

The economic situation has grown worse, and even large corporations no longer have the readily available cash required to pay bills and are failing to pay trade invoices simply because they can’t do so, and no voluntary code will change that simple fact.

Cash-Strapped Consumers Still Hungry For Credit

December 2, 2008 No comments yet

A recent survey suggests that cash-strapped consumers in the UK are still prepared to overstretch themselves on credit and are failing to think through the consequences.

According to analysts PriceWaterHouse Coopers, over 25% of respondents are concerned that they are unable to repay debts in the future. However, very few of the 16% who are already struggling to repay are considering how to overcome and deal with their debts.

PriceWaterHouse Coopers’ Richard Thompson said:

The survey shows that some people are still prepared to borrow despite the tough market conditions, rising unemployment, a depleted housing market and the increasing sense that they will be unable to repay debt in the future.

Out of the 4000 participants of the survey, one in five were also concerned about the decreasing availability of credit. 14% of those worried about debt also expected to use more credit in the coming weeks before Christmas.

Sony Ericsson Z555 Review

November 27, 2008 No comments yet

Especially designed for those with a discerning eye, who take pride in their personal image, and who are uncompromising in matters of quality and style. With its slimline distinctive diamond cover and innovative features such as Gesture control and seasonal theme changes, this multimedia phone doesn’t go unnoticed.

Design

The design of Z555 has a relief diamond-like pattern with rounded edges giving it stylish vision. The stunning front panel only reveals the camera, the speaker with the OLED display below them. You will find the memory card slot indication charger port on one side and a volume control key on the other.

When you open the Z555, in the upper half there is a standard 1.9″ TFT display surrounded by a complimentary pattern to the device’s facia. You will find in the lower left hand corner a light sensor. On lower half of the shell you will find the navigation and numeric keys with identical internet browser, the power on/off button and the ‘My’ shortcuts menu shortcut buttons between them. It has a gold trimmed large flat keypad with a surface area to allow easy navigation.

This is an entry-level handset that has such designer style and a well-crafted chassis that you will forgive the basic 1.3-megapixel camera and lack of multi media functions. You are aware of what camera modes you are currently using such as night mode, self-timer or burst mode (which takes four shots in rapid succession) by the fittings on the screen. There is no designated camera key; you just simply push the navigation pad upwards.
You can zoom 2x and QVGA 4x when you flip to VGA. The only exterior button, found on the right-hand side of the phone has multifunction capabilities. This button doubles up as the brightness adjuster when using the camera, and when using the music player it becomes the volume control. It also serves as the status indicator when the phone is idle showing you your profile, model of your phone and how much free memory you have left.

Features

The Sony Ericsson Z555 has a slim profile with matching accessories to give you a complete look. There is no compromise to the clamshell handset’s diamond design as the outside display is discreetly undetectable when idle. The Sony Ericsson Z555 will show you at a glance who is calling as the diamond facade illuminates on activation.

Wave the interruptions away with ‘Gesture Control’- Sony Ericsson’s sophisticated answer to unwanted distractions. Now you can fully focus on the important things simply by a sweeping of your hand back and forth over the phone’s camera lens to mute the ringtone and send the caller to voicemail and similarly to stop the nasty alarm.

When you open the clamshell the Z555 has in-built personality as it effectively changes its themes as the year progresses to reflect the ever-changing seasonal styles. The look of the home screen and the menu system update automatically as the year progresses as it is linked to the phone’s calendar. Instinctively it knows when spring turns into summer and autumn to winter, saving something special for occasions like New Years Eve!

Commuting can now be an enjoyable experience as you can indulge your music passions to pass away the time. Immerse yourself in the sounds of your favourite band or catch up on that fascinating audio book.

The 262,144 colour TFT Screen has a 176 x 220 pixels resolution displaying your data with quality and clarity. The Sony Ericsson Z555 has a phone memory up to 12Mb with Memory Stick MicroTM (M2TM) support. With Bluetooth stereo support and Multimedia and entertainment options including, the ultra fast Media player 11, PlayNowTM, 3D games, FM radio, Java, Video viewing and RSS feeds you’ll never be bored. Your favourite music tracks or audio books on the phone can be easily stored and conveniently filed according to your preference of chapters, albums or artists. You can keep up to date with the latest news, weather traffic and gossip when you tune into to the FM Radio which can also be played whilst using the other phone features such as the camera.

Why not catch up with those near and dear to you via talk or video as you have 8.4hours of talk time. The 1.3 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom and Picture blogging will allow to you snap the action on the spot. Can’t decide which one to buy and need a friend’s advice? Take a picture, attach it to a message and send it to a friend or publish it onto your blog for everyone to see what you have been up to.

You can surf the net quite adequately using the Z555’s GPRS connection although the download time may take longer than you are used to.

The Sony Ericsson Z555 is also compatible with sleek new Bluetooth headsets with its BluetoothTM stereo (A2DP) capabilities. Offering you the best combination of style and convenience to keep you in touch is the HBH-PV708 Bluetooth Headset or if you are constantly struggling with comfort wearing your headset and your glasses the HBH-PV770 provides an alternative in-ear wearing style. Up the fashion stakes with two changeable Style-up covers of the HBH-PV770 Bluetooth Headset which also lets you concentrate on the conversation in maximum comfort and background noise reduction.

Verdict

The clamshell Z555’s is an entry level phone but with its extravagant design and impressive gesture control with the instinctive themes one is may forgive its shortfalls. Mainly it’s the design which off sets the multi media capabilities and 1.3megapixel camera. This makes the Sony Ericsson Z555 an attractive phone for people with diamond tastes who choose not to invest a lot of money in mobile phones.
